An aura is a collection of electro-magnetic energies of varying densities which are exiting from the physical, vital, etheric, mental, emotional and spiritual bodies. These particles of energy are suspended around the human body in an oval-shaped field. This oval field or ‘Auric egg’ stands out from the body some 2 to 3 feet on average on all sides. It is also found above the head and extends below the feet into the ground.

Another ‘Auric egg’ can be found floating above the lower ‘Auric egg’. It can be found anywhere from just at the edge of the lower auric bodies to 50 feet above them. This separate auric field is called the ‘higher auric bodies’.

WHAT DOES THE AURA LOOK LIKE?

Each layer tells something different about the person. The first three inner layers represent health matters and personality. The outer two layers are indicators of what is going on within the mental and emotional life of the person.

The auric bands are translucent and colourful, appearing much like the colours in a rainbow, only more subtle in intensity. How bright these colours will seem varies with each individual. Some stand out like neon lights and others are so dim that it takes special viewing conditions and a great deal of concentration to see them.

How does the eye perceive the Aura?

There are some 137 million receptors (7 million cones, 130 million rods) in each eye. Some of these receptors, the cones, are for focused day-vision. These cone shaped receptors are the origin of colour vision. There is some evidence that modern human beings see a larger variety of colours than their ancestors. Perhaps if our vision is truly expanding the future may hold some visual surprises as we begin to see in the infra-red and ultra-violet ends of the spectrum. The other type of receptor in the eye is called the rod. Rods are most prevalent in the outer regions of the receptor field. They are most sensitive as the intensity levels of lights are reduced. They are the source of our ability to see in the dark. Rods are the receptors for our peripheral vision. Under conditions of low light, the rods are coated with a substance called visual purple (rhodopsin). Visual purple, which is actually a magenta red, is very light sensitive and bleaches out quickly as light strikes the receptor. As low light returns to the eye, the visual purple re-synthesizes itself. It is with this peripheral vision in low light conditions that the rods perceive the aura.

Can anyone see the Aura?

It is believed that as small children we were all able to see aura’s as well as having other so-called ‘psychic’ gifts. It is only through conditioning by parents, teachers and society in general to conform to an established social pattern that children ‘lose’ these talents. How often have you heard a parent tell a child that it is not right to have imaginary friends, or that some things are real and some just a ‘product of a child's imagination’. Anyone can be re-trained to see the aura given the right instruction.

Does the aura continually change?

Yes and no. The health aura (that is the three inner auric bodies changes slowly as a person’s health, personality and fundamental beliefs change. The fourth auric body, called the astral-auric body, is ever changing as our emotions churn and shift with the tides of thought and experience. The fifth, sixth and seventh auric bodies are much less active in appearance than the slowly evolving health aura.
